Our Story
Two coffeehouses, one address, sixty-six years of coffee.
The Broadway Café first opened in 1960 as a family-run coffee shop where regulars were greeted by name, and the recipes lived in one person's memory. In 2026, we brought that same café to Historic Springfield — into the storefront at 1602 Walnut Street long known as Three Layers Cafe, a neighborhood institution famous for its towering cakes, its wine bar, and its Zen garden courtyard.
We kept the garden. We kept the art on the walls and the open mic on Thursdays. What's new is everything you don't see at the counter: a loyalty program that remembers your order, a book club you can RSVP to from your phone, and a team that finally has the tools to match the care this neighborhood has always shown us.
